Parkes Shire Council has decided to host a Friday Family Fun night on March 6 in lieu of the last two Funday Sunday events for the season, after discussions with the Parkes Aquatic Centre Coordinator Nikki Thornhill and the shire's Drought Response Officer Roger Kitson.
The pair met to discuss the Funday Sunday events for the remainder of the season and suggested the February and March free-entry events be rolled into one on the first Friday night of March.
The proposal was tabled at council's February 18 monthly meeting and was unanimously agreed upon.
Next Friday's event will start at 6pm with free entry and the pool inflatable obstacle course operating for two hours.
An open mic will be available to encourage and promote singing talent and a movie will end the night in the pool grounds between 8pm to 10pm.
A barbecue meal is also being planned for the evening.

Funday Sundays are an initiative of the Parkes Pool as a way to provide a little respite to the Parkes Shire community during the drought.
Council agreed last October to go ahead with the initiative, that was to take place between 12pm and 4pm on the second Sunday of each month during summer, with the first event kicking off on November 10.
Ever since, Ms Thornhill has been liaising with Mr Kitson to encourage drought-affected families and businesses in Parkes to attend the pool and have some momentary relief from the drought.
It will be cheaper for council to host the event on a Friday night compared to a Sunday.
And councillors hope the later time and the event held at the start of the weekend rather than at the end will attract more families to the pool.
In the report tabled at last week's meeting, a Friday night event would cost council $570, while a Sunday event costs $867.
With next Friday replacing the two Sundays from February and March, council will save a total of $1164.
