A paramedic responding to an emergency call has been killed in a crash in Western Australia. The St John WA specialist vehicle crashed at an intersection in the Perth suburb of Forrestdale, about 1.35am on November 14. "The 38-year-old male driver and single occupant died at the scene," a police spokesperson said. St John WA Group chief executive Kevin Brown said the team member, Tinesh Tamilkodi, worked as a clinical support paramedic. He said every support was being offered to Mr Tamilkodi's family, who had requested privacy, as well as to the first responders. "This is one big family. It's a very difficult, distressing time for everyone," Mr Brown said. One colleague, Rudi, said Mr Tamilkodi had "embodied everything we stand for as a profession". "He's one of those people who's always positive, willing to help, always smiling - he's been a great colleague and it's just so sad." St John earlier confirmed the loss of a team member in a statement on social media. "It is with a heavy heart we share news of the passing of a team member who died in the early hours of this morning when responding to a priority emergency call. "This is devastating." WA Premier Roger Cook said his thoughts were with the family of Mr Tamilkodi "whose life was tragically cut short". "Our first responders are the lifeblood of our state, caring for the most vulnerable Western Australians in their time of need," he said. IN OTHER NEWS: "This is an absolutely devastating situation, and I would like to extend our support and deepest condolences to all those at St John Ambulance today."
