WESTERN CHS KNOCKOUT-

Parkes High Open Boys and Girls teams travelled to Bathurst last week to compete in the final rounds of the knockout competition. The boys team led by Sam Rivett included Tom Rix, Will Rix, Ethan Hunt and the Girls team had the capable Ella McColl at the helm with Phoebe Forbes, Kelsey Mann and Faith Clarke on board. The boys had a tough quarter final against West Wyalong High and scraped through on a games countback. They swept past Orange High in the semi final 6 sets to 2 but fell at the last hurdle to a solid Dubbo Senior Campus team. The girls had a forfeit in the quarters and played defending champions Orange High in the semis and went down although the highlight of their day was seeing team captain Ella McColl score a 6/3 singles win over nemesis and former Parkes High player Ellen Dolbel.

HOTSHOTS HAPPY BOX WINNERS-

Each week when the HotShots kids come to their lessons, if they adhere to the values and behaviours set by Helen Magill's Tennis and Team of Coaches which are around Effort, Respect, Positive Attitude, Kindness and Friendship, they receive a ticket for the lucky draw box. If they wear their HotShots shirt, they receive a bonus ticket. At the end of each term 1 or 2 names are drawn from the box by the Coaches and they are presented with gift packs valued at more than $100. The Term 2 winners were Elsie Toohey from Eugowra who is in the Orange Stage and Harvey Williams from Parkes in the Blue Pre-school Stage.

NIGHT COMP-

The Monday Night ladies comp concluded last week with Carla Greef showing the way to take the Winners prize. Tuesday night mixed comp saw Arndell's Aces defend their title. New recruit Janelle Goodsell proved a handy Line 3 replacing young Hayden Arndell who had footy duties during last term. Mitch Arndell has stepped up to Line 1 with ease and enjoyed the singles challenges and with the ultra experienced Angus Arndell on Line 2, the team was well placed going through the comp in top spot and playing Gabe Goodrick, Bev Finn and Michael Somers in the Final. It was a good tussle with the Aces getting over the line 4 sets to 2.
