A man will face court this month after three people allegedly forced entry into a home in Parkes and assaulted its occupants.

Police have been investigating the aggravated break and enter that occurred about 2.40am last Thursday, 5 June at a home in Medlyn Street.

It’s alleged, police say, the residents - a 31-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man - were assaulted before the three people left the home taking keys to the house and car.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man and woman on scene before they were taken to Parkes Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. They have since been released.

Two children at the home were not injured.

Officers attached to Central West Police District established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, about 2.50pm on Saturday police were called to a business on Market Street in Mudgee for an unrelated matter and arrested a 22-year-old man.

Police will allege in court he was in possession of an electric scooter at the time of his arrest.

He was taken to Mudgee Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-inflict actual bodily harm.

The man was also charged with unrelated matters for drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, overtake vehicle when unsafe, three counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

He was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Parkes Local Court on Thursday, 19 June.

Inquiries are continuing.

LONG WEEKEND IN PARKES

Parkes Police are overall happy with how Parkes residents and any visitors to the town behaved over the long weekend.

The King's birthday weekend draws people back home to Parkes as the shire comes together for not only the Parkes Picnic Races on the Saturday but also the massive day of football on the Sunday, and the annual Arts and Craft Exhibition in Peak Hill across the two days.

Officers were conducting drug operations with a drug detection dog around the races and the football, which saw a few drug possession charges laid.

There were also some licensed premises breaches over both days where charges were laid.
