It's the little corner, in the middle of the main street, that's all about celebrating the artistry and talent of our local artisans.

Craft Corner Parkes has become a thriving community hub in recent years, with more and more creatives getting involved, sharing and selling their works at the volunteer-run store.

Every year the group runs a Knit and Natter day and Beanies at the Corner competition, but this October, they have a new challenge.

It's called 'Crafted Joy: The Handmade Toy Challenge' and it's open to people of all ages.

The volunteers are encouraging everyone to participate, particularly welcoming submissions from junior artists (school-aged children) to showcase their creativity and imagination.

Participants can enter handmade toys in the following categories: Stuffed animals and dolls, wooden toys, crochet and knit toys, musical toys, fantasy/role-play/decorative, and junior’s corner.

At the end of the competition you’ll have the option to keep, sell or donate your handmade toy.

Entries are due by 31 October, judging will take place on 7 November and entry is $2 per item.

More information and entry forms are available at Craft Corner Parkes and on their website www.craftcornerparkes.au.

Craft Corner has also introduced a Sewing for Charity Donation Box in store.

If you have a handmade toy, baby item or other small creation you’d love to give to a good cause, this is the box to do it.

Sewing for Charity Australia is a volunteer-powered network creating handmade items that offer comfort, dignity and practical support to people in need.

See what current and ongoing projects they have running for what items are needed on their website at sewingforcharity.com or talk to the volunteers in store.

And if you’re entering Craft Corner's toy challenge, you can even choose to donate your entry straight to Sewing for Charity once judging is done.
