BRIDGE

By TIM BAKER

The Parkes Bridge Club has just held its major congress for the year.

We had 18 tables and 72 players with most of the teams coming from the surrounding towns.

Our local player did very well with a 2nd place and a couple of teams making the top 10.

We had to cancel our March congress due to the unfortunate death of our tournament director and it was impossible to find another director on short notice.

The search for a new director is underway and our March congress will be held on the 10th March, 2026.

Suzie McNamara’s bridge lessons have been a great success with several new bridge players joining the club.

Suzie will continue to give lessons and if you are interested in learning to play bridge you can contact Suzie on 0419 460 585 or email parkesbridgeclub@gmail.com.

We elected our new committee at our August AGM and they are very keen on keeping the club active and fun.

They make the president’s job easy and they organise a social afternoon once a month after the Thursday bridge game.

Unfortunately our newly elected president Kevin Robinson had to move to Queensland to be near family and shortly we will have a new election.

We play bridge every Monday night, starting at 6.30pm and every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at 1pm.

We play at the Lutheran Church Hall in Currajong Street, and beginners and visitors are always welcome.

Call Tim on 0429 912 430 if you are interested in joining us.

On Tuesdays we draw for partners and on Thursday we normally have our own partner but we can find a partner for you if needed.
