Coming up next is our Christmas charity muster on Sunday, December 19, at the Starlight Lounge in the Parkes Services Club.
All proceeds from this muster will go to our local CanAssist organisation to help out with their tireless work towards helping cancer sufferers and their familes in our region.
Wear a little Christmas bling and get into the festive spirit as we endeavour to raise much needed funds.
Walk-ups are always welcome and you never known who might turn up this close to Christmas!
It was an absolute pleasure to have Stephen R. Cheney feature at our November muster, and he didn't disappoint.
He started off his bracket with a rousing rendition of 'The Band is Back in Town', then 'Cowboy Lullaby' - a song he wrote while watching an old Gene Autrey film.
It was very interesting to hear Stephen speak about the songs he has written and what prompted the writing of the ones he sang for us.
He said you never know when or why a song will pop into your head like 'Sing a Country Song', which was written while he was on the committee of a Sydney country music club, and they were trying to encourage people to just get up and have a go.
Or, his beautiful song he wrote for his mum titled 'Daddy Always Called Her an Angel.
In most recent times, while going through his parents home, he came across an old Army photo with a little note attached inside the frame, and that instigated the writing of a very poignant refrain 'My Daddy is Only a Picture'.
Stephen concluded his bracket, much too soon, with 'Hey It's Good to be Back Home Again', but returned to the microphone later to do a finale with the band before we left for home.

Joy Rice from Cowra travelled over to look after our sound desk while Dale compered and John D looked after the stage management, a bit like old times.
Many others, including those from our small committee, were involved in bringing the audience this great return to country music musters in town.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the fabulous support we get from our walk-up artists which included Gary Hollier, Kevin Endacott, Jim Hill, Joe Reeves, Chooka Manderson and Greg Jankowski, all from Dubbo; Ann Penman from Lyndhurst, Ken Chalker from Cowra, Garry Hemming from Forbes and our own Warren Van Akker and Elisa Massari from Parkes.
Thankyou to all.
It was great to see dancers back on the floor.
Everyone enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, especially those who took home the prizes for lucky door, lucky numbers, members draw and our fruit and vegetable parcel.
