A K hub will open in the site that's currently home to Target Country, which is expected to close in April.
"We are excited to confirm that we are opening a K hub in Forbes," a Kmart spokesperson told the Forbes Advocate on Tuesday afternoon.
"The store will be located in the current Target Forbes building and all team members in this store will be offered a role at the new K hub.
"We can't wait to bring this new store to life and look forward to sharing some more details with the local community in the coming weeks."
Forbes Mayor Phyllis Miller says the announcement is great news for Forbes.
"We are strategically setting ourselves up as a retail hub," the mayor said.
The closure of Target Country was announced last year, and posters advertising a closing date of April 17 have been put up in the Lachlan Street windows.
Parkes lost its Target store in September, along with 25 jobs.
The Kmart website says K hub is a smaller format store with the most popular Kmart products across kids, home and clothing.
