There is always plenty to do in Parkes on Australia Day and 2020 was no exception.
Australia Day festivities began with the popular community walk at 7am from Cooke Park, which was followed by a free breakfast.
The Kite Festival continues to grow each year and so do the range of kites it appears.
Families headed to Northparkes Oval between 7.30am and 11am to enjoy the event, which featured some spectacular and create kites.
The all-Australian Car Display in Cooke Park returned to Cooke Park, with residents and visitors enjoying a browse ahead of and during the live entertainment from Parkes Shire Band and the official ceremony at 11am.
There was an opportunity to make a splash at the Parkes Aquatic Centre with free entry between 2pm and 6pm as part of Parkes Shire Council's drought support program.
And Australia Day in Parkes ended with a good crowd enjoying the sunset and the annual harness race meeting.
Usually the infamous annual Golden Yabby Race tops off the night at the trots but no yabbies were to be found this year due to the drought and empty dams.
It unfortunately resulted in the first cancellation of the Australia Day Yabby Races.
