Funding for new equipment for Parkes Shire Food Service Inc couldn't have come at a better time for a charity trying to operate during a pandemic.

Member for Orange Phil Donato was in Parkes on Tuesday to announce the funding through the 2019 Community Building Partnership Program.
The organisation, also known as Parkes Meals on Wheels, will receive $10,000 for the purchase of essential items, including an electronic whiteboard, iPads and a laptop.
It's all to help the charity with its volunteer rosters, sharing messages, providing general information, and in 2020, reminding staff and volunteers of Covid-safe practices.
Service manager Gillian Kinsela said the new equipment will make their job easier and will help get the information they need out to volunteers better.
"We used to just write our messages and information on pieces of paper," Gillian said.
"A lot of our volunteers aren't on email... We've needed this for a while."
Mr Donato said this project is one of many of the Parkes Shire Food Service's he is happy to support.
"Parkes Shire Food Service has been working hard to support the community since they established in 1962, with an aim to provide high quality food delivered by dedicated volunteers," he said.
"It's an important role they play in our community.
"This funding will help equip this wonderful charity group with the technology they need to continue to efficiently run their vital services, which are a benefit to so many.
"I cannot stress enough how happy I am to have been able to put my support behind this very important funding."
