LADIES' SOCIAL DOUBLES
Last night for the first time in many years sixteen keen ladies took to the courts to play their social doubles.
The laughter and enjoyment reverberated across the centre and nice to see them outside and not only partaking in exercise but the mental health benefits of self care were evident.
MEN'S SINGLES
The men meanwhile were a little more serious on adjacent courts with the singles challenge also getting underway. This comp will be entered into the UTR so these participants have an associated objective each week to improve their Universal Tennis Rating.
JUNIOR COMP
Starts today with 6 divisions across Orange, Green and Yellow ball. All players have received an email with the draw and payment instructions.
TOURNAMENTS
Whilst there will be no Tennis Australia Junior Tournaments in 2020, If you are interested in playing a few introductory level tournaments across the Central West region, UTR are offering alternative match play opportunities. Following is a calendar of events and venues. Orange-26/7, Dubbo 2/8, Parkes 9/8, Blayney 16/8, Bathurst 23/8, Cowra 30/8. If you'd like more details please let Helen know and she will forward further information around entry process/links etc.
COACHING PROGRAMS
Yesterday saw the tennis centre come alive once again as all junior programs were in full swing. The development squad players were enthusiastic and worked hard on their skipping skills and fitness before heading into their drills and points play.
Excited to see all the younger tennis players out on court in groups again in the HotShots programs for 4yrs to 14yrs. There are a few places across the week for HotShots on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and just 2 private lessons places. Active Kids Vouchers are most welcome and can be redeemed on registrations- www.parkestennis.com.au
RACQUETS
Seems while the kids were all in lockdown they have had growth spurts with many needing new racquets. If you think your child might have outgrown their current racquet or you would like to 'upgrade' their racquet, please see Helen and she will give you the right advice.
COURT HIRE
Courts can be booked anytime day and night 7 days a week from 7am-10pm by going online- www.parkestennis.com.au
SOCIAL TENNIS
There are two social groups playing during the week organised by the Tennis Club.
Ladies on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am-11am and Mixed on Saturdays from 1pm-4pm. All Welcome.
ON THE ROAD
Jake Magill has continued his build-up towards his US College placement travelling to Sydney to take part in a State Series UTR Event for 10+ players then in a training session with fellow US College players at St Josephs College Hunters Hill. The UTR events are not about winners but more working on improving their skills and playing level based matches. The algorithm of head to head matches determines a player's UTR.
The opportunity to be able to play at a similar level no matter what age participants are is a crucial pillar of the development of players.
