Parkes motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Newell Highway from tomorrow, Friday, May 1, for a John Holland Rail upgrade of the level crossing at the intersection of Hartigan Avenue at Parkes.

Work will include removing and replacing deteriorated elements of the existing level crossing to ensure continued safe access for the community.
Work will start from 6am tomorrow and continue until 6pm Tuesday May 5, 2020, weather permitting.
Vehicle and pedestrian access will be closed during the work and a temporary detour will be in place.
Pedestrians are still able to use the footbridge if mobility allows, otherwise use the East Street level crossing.
Local motorists are also advised to use the East Street level crossing.
Motorists heading south-bound on the Newell Highway are advised to use Hartigan Avenue, London Road, Saleyards Road, Ackroyd Street and Clarke Street to rejoin the highway.
Motorists heading north-bound on the Newell Highway are advised to use Saleyards Road London Road and Hartigan Avenue to rejoin the highway.
Traffic control will be in place to direct motorists. There may be short delays during this time.
