The Parkes Shire has returned its first positive COVID-19 test as the number of cases of the pandemic in the Western NSW Local Health District increases to 44.

The Orange local government area has also increased by one, bringing it to 10 cases, and Cabonne Shire now has five, increasing by two.
Other areas across the district, remain the same as of 10am Monday, advised by the Health District: Blayney Shire three; Coonamble Shire two; Mid-Western Region four; and one each in Narromine Shire, Warrumbungle Shire; Weddin Shire and Warren Shire.
Bathurst Regional Local Government area has nine cases and Dubbo Regional six.
Eight people have recovered from COVID-19.
A Health District spokesperson said it was critical that everyone in all our local communities continue to practice social distancing to minimise the risk of the transmission of COVID-19.
"This is important for everyone, but particularly for older people and people with health conditions that make them more vulnerable," the spokesperson said.
"It's also important that we protect our health care workers who we need to stay well to provide care to people who become sick with COVID-19."
The best thing everyone can do at this point is to stay at home unless it is absolutely essential, and remember to:
- Clean your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or a flexed elbow
- Avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
- Stay home if you are sick
- Keep your distance from others as much as possible through social distancing

NSW's COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 18 following the death of two elderly men in Sydney, as the state's number of confirmed cases tops 2600.
NSW Health said on Monday the state had recorded 57 new cases, which was a drop on the previous day although that's partly due to fewer tests being done over the weekend.
There are 40 people in intensive care units with 22 require ventilators.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian welcomed the fall in new cases but says those acquired through community transmission remained a concern.
