The appointment was announced on March 11 before dozens of bright-eyed youngsters and will become official at the end of the month.
Long-serving director and staff member of 33 years, Lindy Farrant handed the baton over to her colleague of many years and former second-in-charge.
Parkes Mayor Ken Keith OAM, a former Parkes preschooler himself, and president of the PECC management committee Craig Smith were also present for the announcement.
"How good is it to stand here today to hand the baton over," Lindy said.
"I'm so delighted."
Colette thanked everyone for their support, including Lindy, Craig and Cr Keith.
