Cambridge emerged as the local derby winners over Parkes Colts at Woodward Oval to the tune of 90 runs but not before some fine cricket was recorded by both sides.

The scores were: Cambridge 5/218 off 40 overs (Zac Bayliss 79, Jonah Ruzgas 43 no, Shane Jones 31, Jacob Harvey 17, Anthony Riach 12, Myles Smith 2/40 off 7, Brent Tucker 2/47 off 9, Phil Dunford 1/24 off 10) defeated Parkes Colts 8/128 in 29 overs (Aaron Halls 39, Brent Tucker 23, Phil Dunford 22, Blake Smith 18, Myles Smith 10, Zac Bayliss 3/17 off 5, Jonah Ruzgas 2/16 off 6 & Anthony Riach 2/16 off 5).
Cambridge won by 90 runs with Parkes Colts only having 9 players.
Zac Bayliss played an excellent role for Cambridge by opening the batting to score a highly impressive 79 runs with 6 powerful boundaries and 2 towering sixes.
Zac then backed up to demonstrate his all-round ability by taking 3/17 off 5 overs.
Shane Jones scored 31 very useful runs while up and coming Cambridge all-rounder Jonah Ruzgas should be delighted by scoring 43 runs and then returning figures of 2/16 off 6. Several Parkes Colts players made useful starts, however Aaron Halls was one to impress as he slammed 4 boundaries and 1 six on his way to top score with 39.
Parkes Colts can now look forward to taking on Canowindra at Woodward Oval next Saturday, while Cambridge will travel to Cowra.

At Northparkes - Friday 13/10 - Star Hotel 3/97 in 10.5 overs (Dylan Morgan 43 no, Matt Clarke 28, Alec Bateson 2/26 off 3) defeated Bowling Club 10/94 in 21.5 overs (Nathan Hessel 20, Steve McGrath 20 no, Shaun Bateson 17, Toby Thorne 4/23 off 6 including a hat trick, Tyson Spence 3/10 off 3.5, Dane Thorne 2/28 off 6).
Batting first Bowling Club lost wickets at regular intervals despite sound batting from Nathan Hessel and Steve McGrath.
Young Star Hotel bowler Toby Thorne captured a quite unique hat trick as he delivered two excellent balls to dismiss the first two Bowling Club batsmen.
They would be the first to admit his third ball was not one of his best; however an alert Tyson Spence executed a smart stumping to give Toby his hat trick.
Tyson then took the ball to take 3 quick wickets to conclude the Bowling Club innings.
Star Hotel lost no time in chasing down the Bowling Club score as Dylan Morgan smashed the ball with power and expertise to score a quick-fire 43.

At Northparkes Oval - Saturday 14/10 - Raptors 10/173 in 29.4 overs (Jacob Hutchings 69, Scott Knights 33 no, Kyle Branscombe 24, Ben Coultas 12, Tyler McMahon 10, Adam Ashford 2/12 off 6, Shaun Dunn 3/29 off 5, Joe Van Opynen 3/37 off 6) defeated Parkes Hotel Pythons 10/85 in 18.1 overs (Adam Ashford 34, Joe Van Opynen 17, Matt Clarke 3/10 off 2, Neil Cole 2/21 off 5 & Luke Nash 2/6 off 2). Raptors (4 points) defeated Pythons (1 point) by 88 runs.
This was an enjoyable match that was played in good spirit.
Jacob Hutchings demonstrated that he is a fine batsman by playing a series of well struck shots including 7 boundaries on his way to top score with 69 runs.
Jacob eventually fell to a stunning catch by Ryan Smith.
Kyle Branscombe played some good shots to score 24 before Scott Knights batted aggressively to score 33 runs to boast the Raptors score.
Adam Ashford bowled splendidly to capture 2/12 off 6 while Shaun Dunn and Joe Van Opynen both took 3 wickets with some fine bowling.
Raptors bowler Neil Cole took 2 early wickets for the Raptors.
Adam Ashford looked impressive with the bat as he hit 4 boundaries on his way to top score with 34. Joe Van Opynen fell to a terrific catch from Scott Knights.
Matt Clarke delighted his team mates by taking 3/10 while Luke Nash clean bowled his two victims taking 2/6.
At Harrison Park - Saturday 14/10 Parkes Hotel Galahs 4/151 in 17.4 overs (Mitch Hutchings 71no, Brett Hutchings 23, B Bennett 20no, A Charlton 17, Cody Crisp 3/33 of 5) defeated Reedy Creek Green 10/147 in 27.1 overs (Grant Dunn 43, Lindsay Hughes 33, Cody Crisp 17, Craig Chapple 12, Brad Parker 3/18 off 6, Mitch Hutchings 3/26 off 6). Parkes Hotel Galahs (5 points) defeated Reedy Creek Green (0 points) by 6 wickets.
Batting first Reedy Green's batting effort was highlighted by Lindsay Hughes (33) and Grant Dunn (43) both of whom struck 5 boundaries in their innings.
The Galah's bowling attack was led by Brad Parker (3/18) and Mitch Hutchings (3/26). In response to Reedy Green's score of 147 the Galah's batsmen adopted an aggressive approach after losing three early wickets to young Reedy Green all round Cody Crisp (3/33).
Mitch Hutchings smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes on his way to score 71 to give the Galah's a sound victory.
At Spicer Park - Saturday 14/10 - Rusty Buckets 4/73 in 14.3 overs (Harry Dawson 25no, Nic Tosetti 9no & Dan Wilson 2/12 off 4) defeated Cambridge Beefeaters 5/72 in 14.2 overs (Will Woods 24, Matt Spedding 19no, Matt Flynn 14, Josh Duffy 2/15 off 3 & James Mackenzie 2/5 off 3).
Rusty Buckets (5 points) defeated Beefeaters (0 points) by 6 wickets.
Rusty Buckets recorded a victory over an under-manned Beefeaters as youngster Harry Dawson scored 25 runs to guide the Buckets to the winning post.
Earlier Beefeaters batsmen Will Woods (24), Matt Spedding (19) & Matt Flynn (14) offered resistance to a keen Rusty Buckets attack led by Josh Duffy (2/15) and James Mackenzie (2/5) only to see the Beefeaters innings shortened by a lack of players.
At Keast 1 - Saturday 14/10 - Reedy Creek Gold 8/137 off 26.3 overs (Sam Carty 31, Benji Glasheen 22no, Mitch Wright 16, Jacob Foran 4/22 off 6 & Chris Orr 1/13 off 4.3 overs) defeated Honey Badgers 136 in 20.4 overs (Chris Orr 40, Mal Bruce 30, Carl Redenbach 20, Jackson Glasheen 3/22 off 4 & Matt Hetherington 5/41 off 6). Reedy Creek (5 points) defeated Honey Badgers (0 points) by 2 wickets.
In the most closely contested match of the round, Reedy Gold scored a narrow victory over Honey Badgers as young players Benji Glasheen and Jared Carty added an undefeated 31 runs for the 9th wicket to bring victory to Reedy Gold. Earlier Mal Bruce (30), Carl Redenbach (20) & Chris Orr (40 in 35 balls) gave the Badgers a flying start. The introduction of Matt Hetherington (5/41) and Jackson Glasheen (3/22) to the Reedy attack saw wickets began to tumble. Jacob Foran (4/22) caused plenty of concern for the Reedy batting line-up in their run chase.
Sam Carty provided good substance to the Reedy middle order before Benji Glasheen and Jared Carty combined to bring victory for Reedy Gold.
