A part of this program, thousands of people were at Cooke Park on Saturday, January 13 for the Parkes Elvis Festival's official opening and to witness the judging of the annual look-alike competition and the Junior Tribute to Elvis Competition.
During the official opening, guests heard from the town crier, Tim Keith, a Welcome to Country by Rhonda Towney and Acknowledgment of Country by Charlie Oraha and heard from Festival Founders Bob and Anne Steele.

Parkes Shire mayor Neil Westcott, along with Member for Riverina Michael McCormack and Member for Orange Phil Donato welcomed festival guests to Parkes.
The official opening ceremony was capped off by a performance from the 2023 UETA Winner, Johnny Lee Memphis.
Following the Festival's official opening, Festival guests were able to see the amazing Elvis and Priscilla impersonations in the look-alike and sound-alike competitions.
The Junior Elvis look-alike competition was won by Jay Murphy and the Junior Priscilla look-alike competition was won by Maddy Wheelhouse.
The Senior Elvis look-alike competition was won by Elvis Roberts and the Senior Priscilla look-alike competition was won by Kimberly Emery.
The Junior Tribute to Elvis Competition was taken out by Tennessee.
