Rhonda Brain founded Paint Town REaD in 1997, and she has now decided it is time to reduce her travelling activities.
Rhonda has thus donated her car to Neighbourhood Central and it will be used by Paint Parkes REaD Coordinator, Shonel Redfern, who will continue to promote the important message of REaD, Talk, Sing and Rhyme with your child every day from birth.
Paint the Town REad is now operating in 98 communities across Australia and it is now quite evident to the committee that one of the valuable ways to encourage early literacy is through community involvement.
Both the original and present committees are so grateful for the continued, cooperative, and generous interaction with, and engagement of, our community.
Rhonda remains actively involved in Paint Parkes REaD with all committee members who are already getting ready for this year's Community Reading Day which will be held during Book Week later this year.
Rhonda continues in her position as Creative Director of the national board and along with Executive Director, Barbie Bates, and the NSW State Coordination, Robyne Harrison, Rhonda and Shonel will be investigating the feasibility of holding the ninth National Conference in Parkes Shire in 2023, possibly at Engedi in Alectown.
The year will mark the 25th anniversary of Birth to Kindergarten beginning major promotional activities across our community.
What a wonderful milestone and memories!
