A great night was had at the Coventry Room with the postcard-sized artworks submitted by local artists of all ages on display.
It's one part of the Parkes Arts Festival's 2021 offering, designed to celebrate community creativity in accessible ways despite whatever restrictions COVID might have brought in.
The challenge to create 'happenstance' art around our community remains, and there are more events coming up.
Waste to Art winners will be awarded their prizes at the Parkes Library and Cultural Centre on Friday afternoon.
This Saturday there's music in the park with the Parkes Shire Concert Park: bring your picnic rug down to Cooke Park from 11am to enjoy live music, and a few dollars to enjoy gelato from Packed Cones!
The much-anticipated soiree is on Saturday from 6pm at The Little Theatre, with this year's focus on the performing arts.
Live music will be a feature of the night with local performers Gracey Jones, Georgia Sideris and the Parkes Shire Concert Band.
There will be Pecha Kucha style presentations from:
- Patrick Coomey- Music Industry Support Officer, Arts Out West
- Duncan Clement- Band Master of the Parkes Shire Concert Band
- Lisa Ramsay and Lyn Townsend- Directors of Parkes Musical and Dramatic Society
Postcards from Parkes remain on show at the Coventry Room at the Parkes Library and Cultural Centre.
Check out the brightly coloured happenstance art trees around the Sir Henry statue and create something of your own (please note, happenstance art should be ephemeral, it's not vandalism!) to join in the fun.
