And then there were nine - nine Parkes Library ambassadors that is!
Two students from Holy Family Primary School have now joined the ranks after they were inducted on Wednesday afternoon.
It's the first year the school has taken part in the program and coordinators Debbie Gould and Emma Brown couldn't be happier.
"We're really excited because we now have all of our schools participating, so it's very special," Debbie said.
Adelaide Terry and Adrian Day will represent Holy Family, alongside seven other Year 5 students - Evelyn Greef and Anna Orr from Parkes Public, Molly Clohessy and Knox Lamont from Parkes Christian School, Grace McGirr and Toby Fliedner from Middleton Public, and John-Tian Waters from Parkes East Public.
The previous seven students were inducted as ambassadors on March 31.
When the program officially started in 2019, only five students representing three schools were appointed the honourary role.
"The library ambassadors represent the library and take information back to their peers," Debbie said.
"We really appreciate all of their help."
Like the other applicants vying to be ambassadors this year, Debbie said Adelaide and Adrian wrote fantastic applications.
Parkes councillor Pat Smith was on hand for the presentation of the badges before the students and their families were explained their duties and given a tour of the library.
Adelaide and Adrian are thrilled to become ambassadors.
"I'm very excited," Adelaide said.
Adelaide is very interested in the library and loves reading.
She said she chose to become a library ambassador because not many students at her school like books and she's hoping to change that.
"I just want to spread news about the library," Adrian said as his reason for applying.
He said his favourite thing about the library is that you can find anything you want there, likes DVDs and books.
The ambassadors will be in regular contact with library staff over email and in person during the next 12 months.
