The Cats won the toss and elected to bat, and got off to a solid start through the opening partnership of Harry and Zac Bayliss.
The pair looked confident early, getting on the front foot at every opportunity before sending a few lusty blows towards cow corner.
The left arm pace of Brent Tucker struck the first blow for the Colts, with Zac Bayliss falling for 26 after tickling one down leg to keeper Peter Yelland. Tucker had his second in his next over when Daniel Wilson top edged one to first slip after scoring just a solitary run.
That just brought Mitch Crambourne to the crease, and he combined expertly with Harry Bayliss for what would prove to be a vital partnership of 67.
The looked untroubled for much of their time in the middle, before Geordie Duncan managed to secure the key wicket of Bayliss just after he had notched up his half century.
Crambourne and Mitch Wright managed to consolidate and put together a partnership of sorts, but when Royce Simpson, making his LPC debut, bowled Wright he triggered a collapse - with Crambourne following soon after for a well made 70.
Young quick Simpson managed to clean up the tail on his way to the outstanding figures of 4/22, with
The Colts managed to restrict the Cats to 220 with one wicket in hand; a solid comeback after Bayliss and Crambourne led their side to 4/178 at the 29 over mark.
In reply, the family pair of Harry and Jock Yelland started off slow, but steady, blunting the Cats opening bowlers Jonah Ruzgas and Clinton Hawke.
Just as the senior Yelland, Peter, had managed to generate some valuable momentum, the two Bayliss boys combined to dismiss him (caught Harry, bowled Zac) for 27.
Yelland junior, Jock, was able to put on a solid 52 run partnership with first drop Tucker taking the Colts to 1/96 with 13 overs to go.
The dismissal of Tucker, who looked in fine touch in his knock of 38, effectively ended the chances of the Colts, who began to wilt under the climbing run rate.
Unfortunately for the Colts, they were scoring too slowly in the opening 20 overs, with Ruzgas and Hawke combining for three maidens in their 12 overs.
It meant the tail were chasing too many runs from too few balls, which saw Jacob Harvey nab 4/8 when the game was effectively already over - leaving the Colts 79 runs short.
Parkes Cats 9/220 (H. Crambourne 70, H. Bayliss 50; R. Simpson 4/22) defeated Parkes Colts 8/141 (B. Tucker 38, J. Yelland 32; J. Harvey 4/8) by 79 runs at Woodward Oval, Parkes.
