Monday saw the ladies social doubles with 24 very enthusiastic participants.
Leanne Miles and Ang Bottaro-Porter were quick off the blocks and won all three sets in their group, while Lyndal Matthews and Deanne Simpson, Amie McGrath and Amanda Hamilton were both 3-set victors in their groups.
The first round of the Tuesday mixed comp saw some fairly rough hitting with quite a few having hung up their racquets since March. Nevertheless the reassurance came through that it's just like riding a bike and tonight will provide a more positive experience.
The Guys team of Ben Evans, Lachy Tassell and Harry Dawson came out of the blocks well and defeated Wasted Potential 4 sets to 2.
Tennis Pun team including Matthew Ianella, Yuma Oe and Lara Downing had a great start to the comp with a clean sweep over Cuzzin Buzzins.
A slightly new look Arndell's Aces sees dad Angus in full succession planning with second son Hayden now joining the team with older brother Mitch. Hayden loves a challenge and took it all in his stride helping team Arndell to a 6-set win.
Mixed Lollies started strong last week and great to see Mandy Westcott joining the team. Mandy played many years ago and nice to see her back on court during the summer. She's in good company with Paul Dunford and Stacey Townsend leading the 6 sets to 0 win over Diff'rent Strokes.
Full of Excuses had plenty of excuses prepared but didn't need them as their form was pretty good for round 1. They defeated Pints 5 sets to 1.
In the final match of the round it was a draw 3 sets each and 26 games each between Ace Ace Baby and Smashes.
PARKES UTR
Sunday was a busy day at the tennis centre with the Central West UTR series event on, followed by regional ballkid trials.
The UTR event drew players from Connamble, Lithgow, Orange and Parkes.
Abbey Kennedy won all three matches in Div 1 while Mitch Unger was the winner of Div 2.
Faith Clarke showed her dominance after a slow start in Div 3, while Izaac Scott from Lithgow won all three matches in Div 4.
Anna Orr is making some beaut progress and was the best performer in the 10 and under division.
Well done to all Parkes players who competed on your sportsmanship and efforts during the day.
REGIONAL BALLKIDS
Eleven very enthusiastic juniors travelled to Parkes from Coonamble and Dubbo and joined Parkes juniors to trial for the 2021 ATP Cup ballkid squad to be held in Sydney in January.
Abbey Kennedy, Gabe Goodrick, Nia Boggs, Mitch Unger and Ethan Hunt all showed some efficient skills and scored well.
Hopefully they will be accepted into the NSW ballkid squad and will find out if they were successful in the coming weeks.
