Parkes Boars defeated the CSU Mitchell Students by 25 points on Saturday

'Good crowd pleasing rugby' was how Boars life member, and previous coach, Trevor Whittaker described the match on Saturday against CSU, with a perfect day seeing a large crowd gather around the ground in their cars to enjoy the entertainment.

The experience of the big Boars forward pack handled the CSU forwards with aplomb, keeping control of the scrums while finding those gaps to push over and stop the CSU flow of play.

Handling errors from CSU at critical moments meant that the ball was played in the Boars end for most of the match.

Line-outs were a strong part of the Boars dominance, with Jonah Ruzgas, Toby Baigent and Dan Ryan dominating the high ball well placed at each call by Hooker Michael Thomas.

CSU kept working all game despite being well behind on the scoreboard, finally finding the line with seven minutes to go in the match.

Coach Josh Miles was pleased with the result, but thought there were improvements to be made moving forward.

"I'm proud of the way the team worked together for a great result, but we did go to sleep a bit in the second half- we were a bit too confident with our lead when we could have really hammered the game."

"But I thought the set pieces worked really well...and we could still do even better," said Miles.

Congratulations to Joe Nash who ran on in the second half to celebrate his 200th senior game with Parkes Boars, a wonderful achievement.

Next week the Boars can re-group during a bye before facing off against their nemeses, the Narromine Gorillas, in Narromine on August 15th.
