In the early hours of Wednesday morning the mercury plummeted with the 'feels like' temperature at its coldest in Lithgow at -7.0 degrees.
The city's actual temperature was -4.4 which is well below the median July minimum of 0.7 degrees.
Bathurst was also very cold with a 'feels like' temperature of -5.5 and and an actual temperature of -2.1 degrees. The July median minimum is 0.8 degrees.
Young's temperature dropped to -1.7 degrees with a 'feels like' of -5.1 (July median of 1.4), while Cowra residents shivered as the mercury fell to -1.3 degrees with a 'feels like' of -4.6 (July median of 2.1).
In Orange the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) recorded a temperature of -1.6, however, the 'feels like' temperature was much lower at -5.3 degrees. The July median minimum is 0.5 degrees.
In Parkes the mercury fell to -0.6 degrees (feels like of -3.8), while in Mudgee it was -0.9 (feels like of -4.2).
By comparison, Dubbo was positively balmy and the only location in the region that didn't fall below zero overnight.
BoM recordings at Dubbo Airport showed the mercury only fell to 4.2 degrees with a 'feels like' of -1.6. The July median minimum is 3.0 degrees.
