Latest figures from the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) have revealed Parkes received six times more rain in the first half of 2020 than it did in the previous six months.

Two long-standing rainfall records were also broken, both in April this year.
Between January and June in 2020 the BoM measured 471.6mm of rain at its weather station at the Parkes Airport, with four months recording above the monthly average.
No month recorded any less than 39mm, which is May's total and the lowest in the last six months.
The total of rain that was recorded in Parkes between July and December last year was just 73.6mm, with no month measuring any higher than 14.2mm.
Parkes' average annual rainfall total is 622.2mm.
The town only measured 229.8mm in all of 2019 and 328.4mm in 2018.
April is by far the most outstanding this year, claiming the highest monthly total on the BoM's record at 154.8mm and the highest daily total at 68.6mm on April 4.
In a complete back flip, Parkes measured no rain in April in 2019 and was the only month that year or any other year since 2006 to come in at zero.
While the BoM's rainfall records for Parkes date back to the end of 1941, according to its website, there are 45 years or more of missing data prior to the end of 1997.
April's monthly figure is the highest in 32 years of records, surpassing the previous record of 148mm in 1974, the only other time the BoM has recorded triple digits in April.
April 2020 also measured 120.6mm higher than the long-term monthly average of 34.2.
Parkes had 10 days of rain out of 30 in April, with the second highest rain measurement for that month being 44.4mm on April 30.
The town's highest daily total (68.6) for April smashed the 1999 record set on April 5 by 21.6mm.
January, February and June have also had decent falls, measuring 79mm, 79.4mm and 66.6mm (as of June 29) respectively.
January's total was 17mm above its long-term monthly average and 37.8mm higher than last year's total (41.2).
It's highest downpour came on January 17 at 35.8mm and second highest 24.8mm on January 7.
February was almost eight times wetter compared to last year's total of 10.2mm and 21.6mm higher than the long-term average (57.8).
It had 10 days of rain, eight of those consecutively and its heaviest was on February 3 at 24mm.
June has had 14 days of wet weather, six of those consecutive, with 32.8mm on June 14 the highest for the month.
June received more than double the rain than in 2019 (31.8) and 14.7mm more than its monthly average.
March was just 0.9 of a millimetre under the long-term average at 52.8 and 5.8mm higher than last year.
It's heaviest day was March 30, measuring 19.4mm.
Meanwhile May came in 7.1mm under its long-term monthly average but still had seven days of rain and its wettest day was May 2 with 15.2mm.
