An investigation is underway after officers attached to the Central West Police District and Parkes paramedics attended the home about 8.10am (Thursday, March 5).
Police located a 25-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his right hand.
He was taken to Parkes Hospital before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment.
Police established a crime scene and found a sawn-off, side by side, double barrel shotgun within the garage of the residence.
Inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
