You wouldn't normally expect to see a Presbyterian Minister hooning around in a V8 1974 Ford XB coupe - let alone one that is an exact replica of the "Interceptor" driven by Mel Gibson in Mad Max 1.

But ex-biker, and born again Chrisitian, Reverend Peter Roberts does just that - and he built the car himself after vowing as a teenager that one day he would.
Rev Roberts and his wife Gail stopped over in Parkes on their way to Movie World in Queensland from Cranbourne, Victoria.
They were towing what is considered to be the best replica of the car that was driven by "Mad Max" Rockatansky in the film.
"Movie World has rented the car from me to feature in their Mad Max display," Rev Roberts said.
Now the minister at Cranbourne Scots Presbyterian Church, Rev Roberts was kicked out of home at 14 years of age.
"I camped at the back of the Dandenong Drive-In in the prickle bushes," he said.
"I jumped the fence every night to watch Mad Max, which was on for about a year."
Rev Roberts said as a kid with nothing and no prospects he fell in love with the car.
"I thought one day I am going to build that car," he said.
A self confessed rev-head, Rev Roberts owned a panel beating, mechanical and car detailing business prior to graduating in theology.
"While on a job for Fox Studios I heard they were making Mad Max 4 so I said to Gail I've got to get one of these cars now because they are going to go through the roof and we'll never be able to do it," he said.
"It took 10 years to build, we finished it three years ago and it has quickly become the most popular mad max replica that there is."
The original Mad Max car no longer exists as it was in the first movie, it was completely rebuilt for Mad Max 2 and now sits in a private collection in Texas.
"If you want to see a Mad Max 1 car you have to see a replica and this one is considered the best there is," Rev Roberts said.
"It is worth a lot of money now, people are offering huge amounts for it, so it may not return from Queensland."
Rev Roberts said he has used the car a lot in his Ministry and in men's mental health.
"The suicide rate for men is really high and they struggle to open up and talk about things," he said.
"When you are around cars and bikes they start having a chat with you, the car has been really good for that.
"It makes it a bit weird because it has been a strange car for a minister but I'm a strange minister.
"On Sundays I'll be in my suit, another day I'll be on my Harley, another day in the Mad Max car visiting people."
Rev Roberts now has new projects in the mix.
"I want to build a Harley with a Batman theme and a huge wheel similar to Dark Knight," he said.
"So that's on the cards when I figure out how to do that. The Mad Max thing may be ending but there is always going to be something going on."
