This year's field is very strong and has a multiple number of players who on their day could take home this highly regarded event.
The field comprises 19 starters with one player dropping out on each hole based on the highest scratch score, which ultimately will see two players left to play the last hole, the winner taking all the accolades and prize money.
Current club champion Mitch McGlashan will start as a short-priced favourite but with the consistent Rob Hey who generally survives until the last hole in the field, it will come down to one bad shot to decide the title.
However, the new brigade will more than likely battle it out and club captain David Stevenson believes either Riall Harrison or Lachie Buesnell will be the ultimate winner.
The most dubious honour of being first eliminated has numerous candidates with the following players expected to leave the contest in the following order:
- Peter Magill
- Josh Cheney
- Ian Phipps
- Warwick Wright
- Todd Jayet
- Phil Barnard
- Phil Bishop
- Jack Elliott
- Blake Smith
- Brad Scott
- Anthony Riach
- John Green
- Luke Clarke
- Brendan Chambers
- Mitch McGlashan
- Rob Hey
- Ken Cobcroft
- Riall Harrison/Lachie Buesnell
The event will be full of action, drama and sledging among the players and it is really who can survive a bad hole in the first nine holes to enter the cauldron of the last nine, which sees the tension build and the drama increase.
Cunningham's IGA Peter Boschman, while congratulating all players who have made the final, wishes everyone all the best and believes that luck plays an important part of the challenge as one fatal mistake can prove disastrous.
Supporters are welcome to come and watch this entertaining and sought-after event which commences at 9am on Sunday, November 17.
