This Friday we invite everyone to come and join in all the fun at the tennis centre when we hold our third family social play evening. This is an opportunity for the whole family regardless of your playing ability to come and socialise and join some of the on court activities if you want to.
We'll have plenty of activities and mini competitions including seeing who can bounce the ball the most times on the edge of their racquet, hit the targets when serving, red ball parent and child play, musical hoops, champs and challengers poker as well as free play where you can go onto a court and enjoy playing with whoever you choose to.
Cost for the night is $10 per person or $20 for the family which will include a bbq tea. Start time is from 6pm and we will finish around 8.30pm. You don't need to register, just turn up. We have plenty of spare racquets as well. Come and support this fun night and use the great facility the community has at Parkes Tennis.
Todd Woodbridge Cup state finals
This weekend Holy Family Todd Woodbridge Cup team will travel to Sydney to compete in the NSW Primary Schools State Finals. Hayden Arndell, Declan Quade, Zavier Jones, Sam Morgan, Poppy Fisher, Addison Summerhayes, Hannah and Ashley Terry will be giving their all for their school and their town against 19 other schools from across NSW in the red ball Stage 2 competition.
Wilcannia -Forbes tennis trials
This Thursday Hayden Arndell and Poppy Fisher will travel to Dubbo to compete in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese trials. Both juniors have been playing well and will no doubt compete hard to try to gain a place for the Polding trials to be held in Lismore in February.
Senior competition
Round 4 of senior comp completed last week and players are starting to find some form of sorts. Tennis defeated Pints four sets to two while Arndells Aces were too good for AGC taking all six sets.
Full Metal Racquet won all six sets last week in their match against Insert Name Here. One had to check the scorecard and noticed Chris recruited well with Mark Ritchie and Yuma filling in for team mates Stu Taylor and Wade McKinnon. Racqueteers captain Rem Henry has been doing a great job encouraging his charges Michael Somers and youngster Ethan Hunt. They were too consistent last week for Alley Gators Joseph Tanswell , Gabe Goodrick and Sheridan Kirk by four sets to two. Mixed Lollies were too good for Wasted Potential with sub Adam Parker providing some extra grunt. Stacey Townsend played well in her singles against Greg Magill winning 6/1 while Brendan Weekes was the only one to get on the scoreboard for Wasted Potential defeating Paul Dunford 6/4.
Lily McCormick filled in for Ang Porter last week and did a great job winning her singles match and helping Questionables team members Julian Fyfe and Nia Boggs to a four sets to two win over Bogan Gate Bandits. The Bandits Line 3 player has gone MIA the last couple of weeks. Word has it Woodsy did a calf muscle on a quick sprint chasing a short ball so hope hes back on court with us again soon. Boom Shaka Laka had a good 4 sets to 2 win over Dreamteam. Round 5 in action from 7pm tonight.
Court hire
Online court bookings are now in play at www.parkestennis.com.au.
Parkes Tennis are proud to be a progressive Tennis Club as one of the first Central West centres to have online court bookings. Once people book you will be given a pin code which you enter on your allocated court gate to access the court. That code is unique to you and you keep the same code for future bookings. It's as easy as that. Members are being encouraged to go online and enter their rego details to set up a profile to make it quicker when you want to book a court.
