Results of Semi-Finals from Saturday, March 16: Following four very closely contested Semi-Finals in the Parkes-Forbes Junior Cricket Competitions that were played last weekend, we can now look forward to some very exciting Grand Finals for the 2018/19 season to be played this Friday and Saturday.

Results of semi-finals:
Under-17s: 1 versus 4 at South Circle Oval, Forbes: Achesons 5/79 (Tallis Hurford 27n.o, Toby Hurford 22n.o, Connor Greenhalgh 16, Jasper Moore 3/17 off 4 overs, Jacob Chambers 1/11 off 3 overs) defeated Bayliss 4/73 (Ryan Dunn 44, Tyler Yeo 11, Toby Hurford 1/0 off 2 overs, Connor Greenhalgh 1/10 off 1.4 overs).
This game saw Minor Premiers Forbes Achesons score a narrow win over a badly undermanned Parkes Bayliss team. Batting first Bayliss saw Ryan Dunn play a dominant innings of 44 with 7 fours to give Bayliss a total of 73 runs when their innings closed. Tyler Yeo gave Ryan good support as he scored a defiant 11n.o.
Achesons were in real trouble when their score stood at 4/21 as Jasper Moore took three key wickets to give Bayliss a chance of victory. Tallis Hurford, Connor Greenhalgh and Toby Hurford stood firm for Achesons to guide their team through to the grand-final. Graeme Bayliss the team Manager/Coach for the Bayliss team was very pleased by the efforts of the Bayliss players who took part in the semi-final.
2 versus 3 at North Parkes Oval, Parkes: Hawkes 7/138 (Hunter Hawke 36, Harrison McGregor 25, Zayne Ehsman retired, Brody Clarke 14 retired, Corey Thompson 14 retired, Jacob Bell 1/13 off 3 overs, Pat Cormie 1/12 off 2 overs, Lachlan Dunstan 1/16 off 3 overs, Luke McDean 1/24 off 5 overs) defeated KMWL 7/119 (Lachlan Barnes 27n.o, Brady Nicholls 21, Jacob Bell 16, Luke McDean 13, Jade Page 11, Hudson Hawke 4/3 off 3.2 overs, Harrison McGregor 1/6 off 2 overs).
Consistent batting by the majority of the Hawkes batting line up saw the Hawkes total a very competitive 7/138. Hudson Hawke (36) and Harrison McGregor (25) led the way for the Hawkes. In reply KMWL could only total 119 to fall 19 runs short. Lachlan Barnes (27n.o) and Brady Nicholls (21) were the top two batsmen for KMWL while Hudson Hawke (4/3) produced a devastating bowling spell to spear head his team into the final.
Prior to this match, Hawkes Manager/Coach Clinton Hawke conducted a special appreciation ceremony for all the Hawkes players. Each player received a very smart Hawkes cap in recognition of the fact that all the players had been regular attendees at training sessions throughout the season.
Under-14s: 1 versus 4 at Hugh Wilson Oval, Forbes: After very late notice from Forbes Junior Cricket to advise that Grinstead Oval turf wicket was too wet to play on, this game was moved to Hugh Wilson Oval - a synthetic wicket.
Thunder 8/114 (Geordie Duncan 29n.o, Joseph Tanswell 21n.o, Maddy Spence 15, Bradman Hardy 2/15 off 2 overs, Joe Morrison 1/3 off 2 overs, Riley Goodsell 1/7 off 2 overs, Hugh Mackay 1/5 off 2 overs, Griffin Jonbes 0/2 off 2 overs) defeated Livestock 9/109 (Joe Ellison 30n.o, Hugh Mackay 15, Henry Hodges 12n.o, Bradman Hardy 10, Lachlan Plummer 2/5 off 2 overs, Nathan McCreadie 1/7 off 2 overs, Harry Jones 1/8 off 2 overs, Maddy Spence 0/3 off 2 overs, Thomas Burkitt 0/3 off 2 overs).
This game went right down to the wire as the 4th placed Thunder team required 10 runs to win off the last over of the match to defeat the front running Minor Premiers, Livestock team to reach the Grand-Final of the 2018/19 U/14 competition.
A triumphant Geordie Duncan and Joseph Tanswell blasted 14 runs off the last overs of the game to bring victory to the Thunder team, much to the delight of their team mates and supporters and to the disappointment of the Livestock contingent of players and supporters.
2 versus 3 at Spicer Oval, Parkes: Sixers 5/110 (Liam Moody 29n.o, Jack Milne 21n.o, Ewan Moody 10, Brad Mattiske 1/3 off 2 overs, Tom Maslin 2/11 off 3 overs) defeated Bernardis IGA 8/104 (Brad Mattiske 21, Amy Maslin 16n.o, Campbell Ryan 15n.o, Ed Mayo 11, Sam Rayner 2/3 off 2 overs, Connor Batt 2/7 off 2 overs, Liam Moody 1/13 off 3 overs, Jake Dunn 1/8 off 2 overs).
In a very closely contested match the Sixers team held on to gain a close 6 run win after a spirited effort by the Bernardis team to snatch victory. Liam Moody (29n.o) and Jack Milne (21n.o) played major roles to boost the Sixers score to 5/110off their allocated 24 overs.
Under-12s: Sportspower 72 (Tom Glasson 12, Mitchell Smith 11, Joe Nicholson 4/7, Hamish Nicholson 1/1, best fielders - Tom Greenhill and Toby Brown) defeated Walkers AgNvet 51 (Zac Frazer 17 and 2/5, Ollie Walker 12, Brody Page 2/10, best fielders - Ollie Walker and Sam Motley). Hazell & Field defeated Adept Plumbing. No other details were provided.
Draw for Grand Finals
Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. Friday - Game to begin at 6pm.
Under-17s - Achesons versus Hawkes at Northparkes Oval. A presentation ceremony will follow this game to see the Premiership winning team receive Parkes/Forbes Junior Cricket u17 Premiership Caps for 2018/2019. A Barbecue and cold drinks stall will operate throughout the evening to provide a top atmosphere for what shapes as an excellent match. Saturday - All games to begin at 8.30am.
Under-14s - Sixers versus Thunder at Spicer Oval, Parkes. After the wins by the two Parkes teams in the Semi-Finals, this game is sure to bring plenty of interest as the talented players from both teams strive for Premiership success. The winning team could well be the team that holds their catching chances.
Under-12s - Sportspower versus Hazell and Field at Botanical Gardens, Forbes.
Presentation Day: Don't forget to attend P.D.J.C.A's presentation day ceremony at North Parkes Oval on Sunday, March 24 set to commence at 11.am and to finish up with a barbecue and cold drinks. All u10 players will receive medallions. Players from u17, u14 and u12 will vie for the Best and Fairest award and our all new awards - Most Runs, Most Wickets and Most Improved for each team in the 2018/2019 season. Our major awards will be presented. We will run a raffle again this year with some fine prizes on hand.
