PDJCA wishes to advise that the 2018/19 season will commence on Saturday with the following structure:
U/17s: a competition featuring two Parkes teams (Hawkes and Bayliss) and two Forbes teams.
Games will feature some two day games in which 50 overs (each side to bat 25 overs) will be played one Saturday and another 50 overs (each side to bat 25 overs) will be played the next Saturday, this format has been adopted successfully in Dubbo and allows players to build their innings before retiring at 40. All players will be required to bowl at least 2 overs each week.
26 overs a side games will enable shorter length games to be played, particularly on Friday evenings under the lights at Northparkes Oval.
U/14s: a competition involving two Parkes teams (Thunder and Sixers) and two Forbes teams. Games to be 26 overs a side.
U/12s: a competition featuring two Parkes teams (Scorchers and Renegades)and up to four Forbes teams. Games to be 20 overs a side
*All the above games will begin at 8.30am so players must be at the grounds by 8.15am*
U/10s: The U/10s still require extra players, at the time of going to press there are enough players to make 3 teams. It is to be hoped that a few extra players could register to make 4 teams. In the meantime U/10 players will report to Armstrong Park to be involved in skills based cricket activities and games. These will start at 8.45am
As the season progresses it is to be hoped that Forbes U/10’s teams will play games with/against Parkes U/10’s teams.

Team Equipment
Team coaches/managers will be issued with sheets detailing competition rules when they collect their team kit, scorebooks and results sheets from executive of PDJCA at Northparkes Oval Cricket Storage Shed from 7.50am to 8.10am tomorrow morning.
New cricket balls appropriate for the teams will be issued along with the kits.
It is strongly suggested that coaches/managers read through the rules with their players prior to the start of play.
Coaches/Scorers will greatly assist in the publication of results in the following weeks Champion Post if they neatly complete the results sheets including 3-2-1 points for the Best and Fairest players in U/17s, U14s and U/12 levels.
Hints on scoring sheets will be inside scorebooks to guide scorers in the important art of cricket scoring.
Parkes Junior Cricket has been blessed to have many parents who have demonstrated that they are neat, accurate scorers in recent years. The neatest, most accurate and complete scorers are recognised at the annual end if season presentation.
All scorebooks and results sheets must be returned to the “Cricket Box” at Cunninghams IGA Supermarket at the completion of games each week.
Registration of New Players
If there are any players who have yet to register for the 2018/19 season they should report with a parent/carer to Association Secretary Greg Morrissey at the Northparkes Oval Storage Shed between 7.50am and 8.10am to complete a registration form and be allocated to a team. Players have to be registered and assigned a team before they can take the field to play.
Registration costs are – U/17s $100, U/14s $80, U/12s $60 and U/10s $30, with a family maximum of $200.
Representative Cricket
Lachlan Cricket Council inter-town representative cricket is set to begin on Sunday, October 21, when Parkes will play hosts to Dubbo White teams in both U/14 and U/12 levels.
Already a Parkes U/12 group have been training enthusiastically and capably under the guidance of Messer’s Shane Jones (coach) and Greg Morrissey (association secretary).
The U/12 Parkes Representative team is – Harry Jones (captain), Maddy Spence (vice captain), Jack Milne, Harrison Kennedy, Danilo Bottaro-Porter, Aiden Rayner, Samuel Rayner, Triston Ross, Thomas Ball, Ewan Moody, Flynn Thompson, Jake Dunn and Liam Freeman.
The U/14 Parkes Representative team seemed doomed to not have enough available players when initial training runs were called for a few weeks ago. This situation has changed with the availability of up to 5 players form Condobolin keen to join the Parkes ranks. Among the Condobolin players are highly talented players Riley Keen and Ryan Goodsell. Mr Russell Keen of Condobolin has offered his assistance to Greg Morrissey of Parkes to guide the Parkes/Condobolin U/14 team. The final team will be arranged later in the week as final names are not know at the time of going to press.
Representative games for Sunday will be played at Northparkes Oval for the U/14s and Spicer Oval for the U/12s. Players will need to report to team coach by 9am for a 10am start. Under 12s will play 32 overs a side games (7 overs maximum per bowler) while the U/14s will play 40 overs a side (8 over maximum per bowler).
Players should bring their own lunch/drinks. Parkes Rep caps will be on sale for $10 each. U/12 management will distribute McDonalds sponsored rep shirts to players prior to the game.
Parkes players make Lachlan team
Congratulations to all the Parkes players who travelled to Cowra last Sunday to try out for the Lachlan Under 12 team. Harry Jones, Maddy Spence, Jack Milne, Harry Kennedy, Ewan Moody and Triston Ross were all selected in the team with Harry Jones selected as the Captain. So a very strong Parkes presence when you add in coach Shane Jones. We wish them the very best of luck with their first game on November 4.
