The organisation spent three years at their former Clarinda Street location before having to move, setting up shop at 257 Clarinda Street – which was previously occupied by Longfields Sewing Centre.
While it was all hands on deck, Craft Corner secretary Margaret Tanner said every member played their part in the move and everyone enjoyed it.
“It was a happy time, everyone enjoyed the move,” she said.
“We closed on Friday, October 27 and opened at our new store on Tuesday, October 31.
“We held a few working bees.”
The organisation also received overwhelming support from Parkes’ businesses, who helped them with shelving and general store set-up.
“I just want to say how generous they were [to help out],” Margaret said.
“Many business people helped out in many little ways.”
Margaret said the last fortnight at their new premises has been “just wonderful” and they plan to officially open the store on Thursday, November 23 at 2pm.
And everyone is invited.
“It’s bright and nice, and we’re in quite a good spot,” Margaret said.
Prior to moving into Parkes’ main street in 2014, Craft Corner operated out of Dalton Street for 10 years.
A fire that completely destroyed the former Auslec building – located next door to Craft Corner – in August 2014, forced the organisation to search for a new site.
Craft Corner now boasts more than 80 members.
