Come Saturday, September 30, the Parkes Pool is the place to be if you love to swim and would love to be involved with a swimming club this year.
The swimming season is upon us once again and registrations are being accepted for the swimming club on Saturday at the pool from 10am until 12noon.
Those wanting to register must be able to swim 25 metres freestyle.
Coaches will be there on Saturday if you are unsure of your child’s ability and they will steer you in the right direction.
Parkes Swimming Club president TeAnau Dolbel is looking forward to the season ahead.
She said that not only does the new swimming season already look promising, but she also made a point to highlight the health and fitness benefits attached to the sport.
“Swimming is a great way to stay in shape, keep fit and healthy,” she said.
“The benefits of swimming can carry throughout life.
“The club has a great family atmosphere.
“It does not matter whether you want to be a serious competitor, get fit or just join for fitness – we cater for everyone.
“It is a great sport and we have an experienced committee and support group involved, as well as great support from our local council.”
The club encourages anyone, even with a fleeting interest, to come down, have a look and see if they want to try out.
Swimming club is a great way to assist swimmers who want to compete and be successful at school carnivals and further representative levels.
And it’s not all about competition – it’s a great place to make new friends and get involved with a club sport.
New members will be required to have an assessment done by one of the club’s qualified coaches, as swimmers must be able to competently swim 25 metres freestyle.
Assessments will be carried out on registration day on Saturday, September 30.
Additional assessments will be carried out during the first two weeks of the swimming season from 4pm to 4.30pm from October 3 until October 12, Monday to Thursday.
Membership for the season will be $108 per swimmer for ages eight to the very experienced.
This includes free daily coaching from fully qualified swimming teachers, insurance etc.
Swimmers seven years and under (Junior Dolphins) can join with free membership and only need to pay a $38 club fee. Come along on registration day and find out more about the Parkes Swimming Club.
