For two consecutive years the Trundle Boomers Men’s First Grade team have sealed their place in the Woodbridge Cup Grand Final.
Taking place this Sunday at Tom Clyburn Oval, Canowindra, Trundle hope to go one better than 2015 and bring home the premiership shield.
By doing so, it will be the first time since 1982 that Trundle has won a grand final.
There is only one team to stop them, Condobolin Rams.
The Rams form has improved throughout the year and were a force to reckon with in the last few rounds of the competition.
The Trundle Boomers won 24-14 in the major semi final on home turf against Condobolin only two weeks ago.
There is a friendly rivalry with the Rams and Boomers which will make the crowd vocal during Sunday’s clash.
It will be no easy task for either team.
Captain-coach Jesse Durning has worked tirelessly over the last two seasons to keep his squad together.
“We are a bunch of mates that just love playing footy together,” Durning said.
“We are all confident we can play for each other and bring this shield home.
Our supporters deserve it as much as we do. The community is buzzing and it’s great to be a part of.”
Trundle secretary Leisa Rowlands is excited too.
“All the shop fronts are green and gold,” she said.
“If the Boomers win, I think the shop fronts will be coloured for months.
“We have one of the most supportive communities in the Central West.
“This Sunday the crowd will be huge. The Green and Gold army will assemble in Canowindra to help the Boomers bring this shield home.”
Only a handful of our players were born when the last Trundle team won a premiership.
“The older generation remember it well and talk about it all the time,” Rowlands said.
“It is a great moment for Trundle and it’s time we had another one.”
Trundle Boomers take on Condobolin at Tom Cylburn Oval, Canowindra at 2.30pm this Sunday with a large contingent expected to travel wearing their green and gold.
