Ellen Dolbel made it two from two when she played some smart tennis and outplayed all of her opponents in the 10 and Under division.
Ellen is establishing herself as one of the frontrunners in this group and will go into Mudgee and Grenfell full of confidence.
Lily McCormick did a fantastic job in her first JDS for the year and was super excited when she won a match.
She will no doubt continue to improve and cause some upsets along the way.
Maddie McCormick won her first JDS at Blayney and, although defeating some more fancied opponents, this was no surprise to coach Helen Magill.
Maddie has been putting in some extra hours of practice on court and showing real determination and drive to improve her game.
Maddie is definitely the most improved of the Parkes juniors this year and showed she will continue to pave the way in the 12 and Under division.
Abbey Kennedy and Harriet Peters finished second and third while Charlie Strudwick and Molly Kennedy showed more consistent performances throughout the day and will continue to trouble their opponents.
Holly McColl again played up a division in the 14s and enjoyed the challenge.
She did well to make the semis.
Makayla Strudwick also played 14s and just missed out on the playoffs.
Thomas Girle was the only Parkes boy to make the trip to Blayney and did well to make it through to the quarters in the 12s.
A little break from JDS now as Mudgee is the next event on June 19, followed by Hawkesbury on July 24, and Grenfell on July 31.
PSSA KNOCKOUT
Parkes Public will take on Cudgegong Public (Mudgee) in the final of Western section of the Victor Kelly Trophy this Friday in Dubbo.
Good Luck to Joseph Tanswell, Gabe Goodrick, Maddie McCormick and Molly Kennedy.
I’m sure they will be fine representatives of PPS and Parkes tennis.
STATE TEAMS CHAMPS
Jake Magill returned from a tough weekend of tennis at the 14 and under State teams Championships at Gosford.
Jake was a little worse for wear after six solid best of two singles matches where he played the cream of NSW tennis.
Jake won three of his singles matches which was a good effort and reported that he was relatively pleased with his form.
Central West finished 10th overall.
JUNIOR
COMPETITION
Players are reminded to make sure they read their draw each week ahead of time.
This seems like a simple request, but there are still forfeits and players turning up at the wrong time to play.
The draw is done for the whole term in advance for players convenience.
It is disappointing when almost everyone turns up on time, but there are some serial offenders who forfeit without notice or turn up at the incorrect time to play.
GOLD DIVISION
Olivia Dolbel had a big session at junior comp last week when she played her scheduled match and the match that was washed out from two weeks ago.
Olivia amassed 17 games and did not give a single game away which was a pretty good effort.
Olivia has finally found a forehand which is evident of her effort to improve her strokes with some added power and precision.
Nia Boggs and Cody Morgan played a beaut match with both players chasing lots of balls during hard fought rallies.
Nia just won their encounter 5/3.
Koby Wirth played very well in his match against Monique Morgan.
Koby tried to hit the ball away from the very athletic Monique and this helped him to achieve a 4-all draw.
Charlie Strudwick is trying to use some more spin on her forehands to counter her new power packed racquet.
She did a good job and did not let Claire Simpson into their match last week.
GREEN DIVISION
Both Zoe Anderson and Charlie Mahon were running late last week because of a school bus mix up.
They only managed three games in their match with Charlie winning 2/1.
Feeling for Kendra Dunn as she received her second forfeit in a row after Tim Nyugen failed to show for their match.
This follows on from a washout so Kendra has had little time on court for match practice this term.
Lily McCormick has had a renewed enthusiasm for her tennis and this certainly showed with a big 5/0 win over Jordan Richardson.
Brody Kennedy and Rubi-Lou Parker both played well and hit some nice returns to finish with a 3-all draw.
ORANGE DIVISION
Emily Neems did very well last week as she was not 100% and shrugged off signs of the flu to defeat Isabella Anderson 6/2.
Brookelyn Pinkstone and Ella Peterson both played well.
Brooke won their match 4/1.
Thomas Simpson is showing signs of skill and enthusiasm which is great to see.
This was emphasised when he scored a 4/1 win over Lilia Howard last week.
SINGLES AND DOUBLES DIVISION
Joseph Tanswell and Gabe Goodrick sit atop the table in this division and their combination in the doubles is continuing to improve.
They were too good last week for Chloe Hill and Maticka Brown with a three sets to nil win.
Although, Chloe did give Joey a run for his money in their singles match.
Nic Job and Jacko Plummer played well in their doubles to finish with a two sets to one win against Anna Westcott and Georgia McHugh-Douglas.
Anna defeated Jacko in their singles to get one for the girls.
Kayla Swetland and Josh Winter were on fire last week.
They blitzed their younger opponents Ellen Dolbel and Jack Rice three sets to nil.
Kayla and Josh were wrapped with their victory and were celebrating all the way back to the clubhouse from Courts 11 and 12.
Maddie McCormick and Molly Kennedy (M&Ms) played very well to defeat Thomas Burkitt and sub Steph Peterson three sets to nil.
Thanks to Steph for subbing for Lucin Sarkissian at late notice and it is hoped Lucin makes a quick recovery.
