Nikita was again selected on the Australian youth team to compete in the Trans Tasman Quarter Horse Challenge, held between 6th - 11th October in Feilding, New Zealand.
Nitika took part in four days of training and learning clinics, with the remaining two days set aside for competition.
Nine other competitors took part in the challenge with five Australians and five New Zealanders making up the teams.
The various challenges were to test the abilities of not only the riders, but also the relationship between the rider and horse, as the competitors were using horses that were supplied by the New Zealand Quarter Horse Association.
Nikita competed in five events.
Showmanship, involved the rider to lead their horse to perform and display different manoeuvres.
Western Horsemanship, included riders showing class and classic manoeuvres.
Western Pleasure, showed the horses at different gates and were also involved in trotting and cantering.
Hunter Under Saddle, involved showing the horses at different gates, and were judged on movement and coordination.
Last but not least was Trail, this event tested the ability to manoeuvre the horse around varying obstacles, including walking over bridges, opening gates, and jumping over poles.
Out of the five events Nikita won two Bronze medals, one for Hunter Under Saddle, and the other for Western Pleasure.
In the other challenges she was ranked 6th , 7th, and 8th position.
Nakita would like to give a huge thank you to the Parkes community for their continued support and help with the fundraising that got her to New Zealand.
“To represent my country is a dream. Thanks to the community and individuals who helped make it come true,” she said.
