The opening will be held next Friday, March 13, at 9am and local officials are delighted the Minister has made herself available for the ceremony.
Born in Nigeria to British parents, Sussan Ley spent her early childhood in the United Arab Emirates, before migrating to Australia at the age of 13 with her parents and older brother.
She was elected to the House of Representatives for Farrer in 2001, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2013.
She became Minister for Sport and Minister for Health just before Christmas last year.
The Currajong Aboriginal Health Centre is a result of a partnership which began in 2011 between the Parkes Aboriginal Community Working Party, Orange Aboriginal Medical Service and Parkes Shire Aboriginal Project Officer, Amanda Corcoran.
It aims to better service the health needs of the Shire's Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.
The Currajong Aboriginal Health Centre is located on the corner of Bushman and Currajong streets.
Minister Ley has been invited to support the Currajong practice in Closing the Gap in Aboriginal health.
“This is a big step for the Parkes Aboriginal community in promoting the practice and closing the gap in indigenous health,” Project Officer, Amanda Corcoran said.
