2015 Clean Up Australia Day is gearing up to be bigger and better than ever with site registrations coming in thick and fast.
There’s never been a better time to put yourself in the picture.
In Parkes we have a central registration point at Lions Park.
Bags will be provided to participants at that point.
From here individuals can join groups as we attack our messiest reserves.
Clean up sites are restricted on the main highway, however groups of adults are able to tackle the local roads. Vests will be handed out at Lions Park for use when cleaning along roadsides.
For safety reasons children will be confined to parks and reserves.
The Parkes SES have very generously offered their assistance with removing the bags collected on the day to the Parkes Landfill Site.
The Parkes clean up has received terrific assistance from the Parkes Rural Fire Service in the past, with members signing up for 2015 as well.
It’s not too late for any other community groups to help out on the day - it will be greatly appreciated.
Just a few hours from numerous groups can lighten the load for those participating.
Don't forget your sturdy shoes, gloves, hat and sunscreen.
Turn it into a social event and participate in the free sausage sizzle after the clean up.
Ian Kiernan AO, founder of Clean Up Australia, encourages everyone to help out.
“We all know there are places in our community that need some attention - our streets, parks, sporting grounds, beaches and waterways,” he said.
If you can’t join the clean up, you can contribute financially at www.cleanup.org.au
It relies on community support.
