This collection numbers we believe close to 6,000 records.
We have not done an exact count but after eight days of moving it to the Henry Parkes Museum it proved to be a mammoth job for the men folk.
The collection of records are 10 and 12 inch RPM and 45 and 33 RPM commencing about 1930s.
To find the space was a nightmare on its own.
However with much head scratching and hard work, the collection is now at the museum.
We hope Ross is happy with its new home.
Ross was a very familiar person in every Parkes home - 2PK, the Sunshine Club, 2LVR and his continuing work with the radio station even though it had changed hands.
To be able to preserve the music part of Ross's life is a great priviledge.
The combination with the donation of Beth and Ken Turner's items this makes our collection over 20,000.
We could not have received in the past fornight two totally different gifts.
Beth's beautiful dolls and Ken's airforce uniforms and many other personal items gives us an insight into two totally different families.
Part of Ken's items is the very beautiful drawing done by David Guinney of the Parkes District Hospital in its very early days.
This was presented to Ken after his retirement from the hospital and to acknowledge his 20 years as the Chairman of Parkes District Hospital.
In the past two years the Historical Society has received some very lovely and historic items.
Our next 12 months will be spent itemising, photographing and computerising these items.
We thank these families for thinking of us and donating their prescious items.

President, Parkes Historical Society.
