The Ronald McDonald House Westmead Wool Drive is in its second year after the amazing success last year, raising just under $45,000.
“After the amazing result, we had clients ask if we were going to do it again and that they had wool kept for it,” a Western Wool representative said.
“So the staff of Western Wool marketing have run the wool drive again this year collecting more than 12000 kilos - over 2000 kilos more than last year.
“Wool has been collected from farms free of charge, with all costs being donated back to this great facility.
“One in three people have used or know of someone who has used a Ronald McDonald house facility,” she said.
“In our business alone, there are two who have previously used the Westmead facility and one who still does which is why we have chosen to support something that has personally given so much.”
The spokesperson said staff collected wool from May until the end of October.
“Staff and friends gave up a Saturday in the 40 degree heat to press out 77 bales which is 14 more than what we had last year,” she said.
“The wool has come from as far as Cobar in the west, Young in the south, Millthorpe in the east and Coonamble in the north - and everywhere in between.”
The auction will take place in the selling rooms in Melbourne this Thursday, November 27.
There will be a live feed via skype back to the Parkes office with all donors being invited in for morning tea beginning at 10am and lunch provided.
Belinda Woolford from Ronald McDonald House Westmead will also be present for the day.
