What is the retune?
The retune is a national programme that moves free-to-air television channels to new frequencies.
These moves, to be completed by the end of 2014, will free up space for new services such as mobile broadband.
After channels have changed, viewers will need to retune their digital TV, set-top box or digital TV recorder to find the channels that have moved.
When is it?
For the Central West, Central Tablelands, some free-to-air channels will be changing frequencies on 3 September.
Who does it affect?
The retune will affect viewers in the Central West and Central Tablelands of NSW, who receive their TV signal from the Mt Canobolas, Oberon, Eugowra and Grenfell TV towers. Main towns affected include Orange, Blayney, Parkes, Canowindra, Molong, Manildra, Oberon, Eugowra and Grenfell.
How do I retune?
Retuning is done using the remote.
Viewers should start by pressing the ‘menu’ button on their remote then looking for the ‘set-up’ options.
Next, they should try to select words like ‘channels’ or ‘auto-tuning’ and follow the prompts.
A scanning bar may appear so when the scan finishes, you should be able to receive all the digital TV channels.
Retuning should be done on 3 September or any day after the retune.
It may be useful for viewers to write down their favourite channel, program recording and parental lock settings before retuning.
