Matt competed at a Country Regional Carnival at Singleton earlier this month where he won the event against swimmers from some 40 clubs across country NSW.
He swam a State Age qualifying time of 2.40.57 in the 200m backstroke to win and book his spot in Sydney.
Matt also won a gold medal in the 13 years 50 metre backstroke, silver in the 13 years 50 metre butterfly and bronze in the 13 years 100 metre backstroke.
In a great effort, Matt has taken a massive 17 seconds from his 200 metre backstroke time this season.
He trains consistently every week, swimming about 35km.
Matt enjoyed a successful Parkes swimming carnival late last year.
In other swimming news, the Annual Parkes Development Day will be on Saturday, January 18, starting at 10am.
There will be swimming from 10am to 12pm, lunch and then some information and fun after.
The Swimming NSW Development Officer for the Mountains and Plains Area, Mr Paul Dobson, will be in attendance.
Paul is a Silver Licence coach and the club looks forward to gaining some extra knowledge from his expertise.
If anyone is interested in going, please put names down in the clubhouse or email Barbara Weaver.
