At Parkes Local Court on October 7 presiding Magistrate McCarron said the matters most concerning was the fact that Adams was in possession of a knife while involved in an affray.
"Public violence with weapons must be taken seriously," Magistrate McCarron said.
According to police facts Adams was visiting a unit on Cossa Street, West Tamworth on March 3 with another male, when he got into a verbal argument with a former partner who was sitting in a car with another man.
In the facts submitted to court, Adam's friend and the other man had taken off their shirts, and began to 'shape up' and swear at each other and Adams removed his shirt and joined in.
According to police facts, a punch was thrown at Adams which did not connect. After a short altercation Adams pulled a knife from his back pocket, making the other person flee.
According to police this person returned holding a large piece of wood approximately one metre long and began chasing Adams.
Police were patrolling Susane Street, Tamworth around 3:40am on Friday, March 5 where they sighted Adams pushing a PW 50CC motorcycle on the footpath.
Police stopped and spoke with him before checks revealed he was outstanding for the affray and possession of a knife in a public place. They arrested him on the matters
In relation to the charges of possessing a prohibited drug, the facts submitted to the court, state police were patrolling in the vicinity of Grenfell and Welcome Streets, Parkes, about 7pm on March 27 in relation to antisocial issues and drug activity.
Police said they noticed Adams walking from a unit suspected of being a location that prohibited drugs are sold from.
They say Adams walked into the unnamed laneway at the rear of the unit block and entered a white minivan which left the area.
Police said they followed for a short distance before activating their lights stopping the vehicle a short time later.
Police spoke with the female driver before speaking with Adams who was confirmed to be the same person walking from the unit.
Adams initially denied having drugs before being asked to remove any items he may have placed down the front of his pants.
He removed a small piece of aluminium foil from his pants stating it had cannabis in it which he had just bought for $10. The cannabis, weighing 0.2 grams was seized.
In sentencing, Magistrate McCarron noted that Adams' merit report was positive and that he had significantly reduced his intake of prohibited substances.
Magistrate McCarron said rehabilitation is a real factor in sentencing and Adams had made a genuine attempt at rehabilitation.
Adams was placed on an aggregate 12 month Intensive Corrections Order for the offences. The charge of possessing a prohibited drug was dealt with by a Section 10.
