The 'Veterans Walk for Health' will take place this Sunday from 10.30am for veterans and their friends and family, with a barbecue to follow from 12.30pm.
There are two routes planned: one at approximately 4.2 kilometres in length, and the second a six kilometre walk through the beautiful Parkes environment from a start point at Bushman's Dam.
It is not a race, and participants are encouraged to take their time, stay safe and enjoy the scenery, with a drinks station provided midway.
Get moving (physical activity) is the theme for this week, and Minister for Veterans Affairs Andrew Gee urged veterans to do just that.
"We know that physical activity is an important contributor to an individual's overall health and wellbeing, and getting active is a great opportunity to connect with your mates and others in the community," he said on his Facebook page.
