Deputy Premier John Barilaro, in the few minutes he had to speak to media, gave a shout out to Parkes for having the sharpest increase in vaccination rates.
"Can I give congratulations to the community of Parkes, they were the biggest mover in vaccinations over the last week," he said.
"They went from a 36 per cent first dose, to a 66.5 per cent first dose in just over seven days."
A total 1270 Parkes residents got their first dose of a vaccine through the Health and Australian Defence Force walk-in clinic in a mammoth three-day effort, but we also know numerous locals have been able to get appointments through local pharmacies and GPs.
The Defence Force will be back to give the second dose of Pfizer three weeks after the first, so we can expect to see our fully vaccinated rate increase as well.
As of August 28, that was sitting at 24.8 per cent.
