People with hearts the size of a horse have sent gifts to anti-lockdown protest hero Tobruk.
Ten-year-old Thoroughbred Tobruk, part of the mounted police unit in Sydney, was allegedly punched twice in the face by a man during the anti-lockdown protests on Saturday in the Sydney CBD.
And while police have reported the man who punched Tobruk has been charged and appeared before Paramatta Local Court on Sunday, it's the public's reaction that has most surprised them.
NSW Police have thanked the public for their support to Tobruk and the NSW Mounted Police Unit in general.
"In Saturday's protest Tobruk performed beautifully," Senior Constable Patrick Condon, NSW Mounted Police Unit said in a media statement.
"He exceeded my expectations of how he would handle that kind of environment."
"The support has been great...a lot of people saying they're horrified by what they saw in the media and letting us know that majority of the community is right behind us."
It's nice to see at a time when fights in the toilet paper aisle at the supermarket are the norm, people are digging deep for a four-legged hero who was caught up in the violence on Saturday.
