The numbers have been excellent since the new year and we're looking to keeping them up all year.
This week was the 4 ball worst ball competition with the good pairing of Michael Dumesny and Raymond White reigning supreme.
Raymond is just a year in on his golfing journey at PGC but no doubt was guided around by the wily Michael who shot a good individual 39 points on the day.
As the name implies this event is all about not incurring a poor score on a hole so the partnerships are important.
The pair managed a solid 35 points and this proved the winning number.
In the individual stakes there was some particularly good scoring with three players hitting the heady heights of 41 points.
While playing north to south on the course wasn't too difficult coming in the opposite direction took some skill and ability.
Todd Huntly won the countback and is keeping his name up the leader board in all events so far this year.
Tom Delmenico came in second after getting out on the course early and Denis Howard was the other 41 with an excellent round of 74 off the stick, this being a great round in the conditions and the lowest scratch score for the day, one in front of Michael Dumesny.
Ian Phipps was the only other to break 80 with a 79.
Good to see James Ward back to his competitive best and newcomer Ben Howard has already seen the handicapper move on his handicap, Wayne 'Pup' Parkes is still extracting some additional shot making from the new Taylormades.
Cameron Standen also scored an eagle on the weekend so got the bragging rights in his playing group.
The course is starting to suffer under the hot and windy conditions so make sure all divots and pitch marks are repaired and report any issues you see to the Proshop.
The Nearest The Pins this week were - Idlerite Tyrepower 1st won by Ross Smith at 110cm, the Griffins Leading Edge 4th by Vince Kelly at 377cm, the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th by Mathew King at 307cm, the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th by Robert Norman at 74cm, the Harvey Norman 11th by Brett Cowling at 65cm, the Westlime 15th by Ben Howard at 70cm and the Central West Glass 18th by Phil Bishop at 29cm.
So that meant that Mathew King won the lucrative 6th hole this week.
Ball winners were - Tom Delmenico, Denis Howard 41, Philip Smith 40, Nym Dziuba 39, James Ward, Alec Edwards 38, Wayne Parker, Ian Phipps 36, Ben Howard, Rod Kiley, Robert Norman 35.
VW Scramble
On Sunday PGC hosted a second round of the popular but extremely competitive VW Scramble.
Pro Jacob O'Brien has been active getting these events underway - well done.
We attracted another 12 teams this time around including three visiting teams showing how keen teams are to qualify.
Unfortunately, the PGC teams could not overcome a good Dubbo GC team so will not have a second group in the regional finals.
As always pars and better are a must and the nett scores for the prize-winners were all in the 58's with only a small margin separating 1-3.
If you want to contest a VW Scramble look up the website for available locations with Wellington hosting this Sunday.
Next week we contest an 18 Hole PAR - Fourth Round of Summer Competition and there is an individual in conjunction all hole scores to be recorded, along with par score.
Don't forget annual fees are now due and the invoices are in the ProShop.
Course refurbishment
On Friday morning there was an amazing team from the Parkes Golf Club community who helped refurbish our bunkers on the 11th hole, and what an amazing job they have done.
A massive shout-out to all those involved, thank you for your help and ongoing support around PGC.
A huge thank you goes to Judy and Bernard McCabe for your kind donation of the sand and your continued support, without you guys our course wouldn't be as beautiful as it is.
