Cooper's Boys sponsored a trophy in memory of Cooper Thomson who was a regular on the course and popular with all our golfers.
The Smith family trophy was also competed for, all in memory of Bob Smith, a long-time player and supporter of the club, and volunteer.
Thanks to these families and groups.
While the temperature is starting to climb, and a few golfers are starting to favour the indoors, there was still a good number of 73 golfers participating in the day.
The Smith family sponsored individual events in both 9 and 18, and the ladies' event, while Coop's Boys sponsored a 4BBB event.
We thank the Smith family and Troy Thomson, Rob Cheney, Peter Magill and David Stevenson for hosting this Memorial Day.
In the 4BBB event the winners for the day were the popular ladies pairing of Colleen Flynn and Cathy Kelly, who compiled a great score of 46 points.
A great score on any day but with a strong wind and the temperature up, this was a great effort.
Not only did they win, they were clever enough to know there would be a countback and did their best work on the back nine.
Peter Boschman and Jack Matthews also managed to get to 46 points but I believe Jack was getting a bit tired from carrying Peter around in the heat, so unfortunately they just missed.
The Smith family combination of Justin and Michael, who kept well hydrated, were next and Jake Thompson and Mick Dumesny also performed well on the day.
The winner for the nine hole event was Scott Winter on a very solid 22 points and no doubt will put the prized pewter to work across summer.
Over the 18 holes Jack Matthews with his 41 points was the winner, although he had to beat Scott on a countback.
In the ladies event Collyn Flynn had to beat Cathy Kelly on a countback to win with 36 points.
The Nearest The Pins this week were:
Idlerite Tyrepower 1st won by Riall Harrison at 760cm, the Griffins Leading Edge 4th by Riall Harrison at 433cm, the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th by Nym Dziuba at 92cm and the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th by Josh Kearney at 334cm.
The Harvey Norman 11th was won by Matthew Swetland at 225cm, the Westlime 15th by Marty Woods at 195cm and the Central West Glass 18th by John Green at 25cm.
So that meant that Nym Dziuba won the lucrative 6th hole this week.
Ball winners were:
Michael and Justin Smith, Jack Matthews and Peter Boschman, Jake Thompson and Mick Dumesny, Peter Bristol and Joe Davies, Troy Thomson and Aaron Drabsch, Ross Smith and Wayne Parker.
Next week there is an 18 Hole Individual Medley Stableford where golfers will vie for the Bill Bouke trophy.
