NSW Health has provided strict protocols as to how libraries must operate in a COVID-19 safe way, which includes:
- exclusion of staff and visitors who are unwell
- limiting the number of guests to allow for four square metres per person
- providing distance markers for people queuing at service points
- ensuring adequate handwashing facilities and/or sanitiser
- online ticketing systems for museums and galleries
- no groups and tours
- enhanced cleaning and;
- 4 hour quarantine of returns for libraries.
In line with the NSW Health guidance, Parkes Shire Library will introduce the following conditions of entry:
- exclusion of staff and visitors who are unwell
- limit of customers at any one time in the library
- maximum 30 minute stay, including use of computers
- sanitising hands upon entry and;
- physical distancing at all times.
Council's Manager Cultural Education & Library Services, Kerryn Jones said, "We are delighted to be re-opening to the public on Monday, June 1 - the library team have certainly missed seeing our members and visitors during the closure period".
"To ensure the health and safety of all our members, visitors and staff, there will be some temporary limitations to our programs and service, as well as changes to our regular opening hours.
"Unfortunately, we are unable to reinstate the 24-hour Library Service at Trundle and Tullamore at this time, as we cannot guarantee a safe and sterile environment when the libraries aren't staffed. However, our township members will still be able to visit the libraries during normal opening hours and borrow library items using the new Click and Collect Service."
Storytime, Author Talks and Book Club will continue to be delivered online.
