Parkes Shire Council has voted to ask Transport NSW to seek black spot funding for a roundabout at the Clarinda and East Street intersection.

Council's preliminary assessment suggests that the Clarinda/East Street intersection would be eligible for blackspot funding.
However, Council is not the road authority so the application would need to be lodged by the road authority Transport for NSW (TfNSW).
Councillors voted unanimously at its May meeting on May 19 to ask TfNSW to seek the funding.
Mayor Ken Keith pointed out council had always been reluctant to carry out the work or seek funding for the intersection as it is a 'state road'.
"We like to spend our limited resources on our local road system and not the state road system," Cr Keith said.
"This might be an opportunity to convince TfNSW that they don't have to pay for its because it will come out of a different bucket of money under the Blackspot program they may actually consider it," he said.
In a report to the May 19 meeting councillors were told Council has been advised that this intersection does qualify as a crash cluster however due to this project being located on a State Road, Council is unable to make a submission.
"Any submission needs to be from the Road Authority, in this instance TfNSW (formerly the Roads and Maritime Services - RMS)," councillors were told.
