Valleys (5pts) defeated Raptors (0pts) by 5 wickets.
After winnings the toss and electing to bat Raptors were in big trouble when their score stood at 4/11 after 5 overs as Sam McNaught crushed through the top order taking 3 quick wickets. Aaron Halls (28 runs) and a very determined Jack Murray (47no) came to the rescue of Raptors as they added valuable runs. The further Jack Murray's innings progressed the better he batted. Jack received good assistance from Max Keith (13) and Blake Smith (10no) to ensure the Raptors batted out their allocated overs. Sam McNaught ended with 4/24 off 10. Ben Houghton produced a extremely economical spell with 0/14 off 10 while Ben Cole secured the good figures of 4/45 off his 10 overs. In reply, Valleys lost an early wicket as Blake Smith executed a smart run-out of Ben Houghton. Determined batting from Darcy Callaghan (18) and Jacob McNaught gave Valleys a solid start to their innings. Raptors continued to fight hard to restrict the scoring with Luke Nash leading the way with a very tight bowling spell that saw him capture 2/29 off 10 overs. A few dropped catches did not help Raptors. Jaco McNaught (72no with 4 fours and 2 sixes) powered the Valleys to a good victory. Jacob received sound support from Sam Long (11no). Both teams deserve credit for their sportsmanship and competitive fashion in which they played the game. Umpire Trevor Chatman carried out his duties in his usual highly competent manner.
